Neville-Thomas
Neville Thomas, B.Comm – Non-executive Chairman
Neville Thomas has worked in the mining industry for over 30 years. During this time he has been associated with the mining of coal, tin, copper, silver, bauxite and exploration for base metals and gold. He has been a director of NQM since his appointment on 3 November 2005.

Mr Thomas was the Finance Director of Oakbridge Limited for 12 years. He was also Managing Director of Oakbridge’s Metal Division and Managing Director of Great Northern Mining Corporation NL, a public company controlled by Oakbridge.

Mr Thomas was a Senior Executive with Normandy Mining Limited for 11 years. For four years he was a mining consultant with Normandy Capital doing project for the Normandy Group. Neville also spent seven years in Jakarta, Indonesia where he was a Senior Executive of Normandy’s gold exploration activities in South East Asia which covered Indonesia, PDR Laos and Vietnam. He was a Director of all Normandy Limited companies in the region.

Mr Thomas has also held senior corporate positions with Comalco Limited and Le Nickel, the wholly owned subsidiary of a major French mining group.

Bruce-Kay
Bruce Kay, BSC MSc BEc CPGeo FAusIMM – Non-executive Director
Bruce Kay has a resource industry career spanning more than 30 years with extensive experience in international exploration, mine, geological and corporate operations. He has been a director of NQM since his appointment on 1 March 2006.

Mr Kay retired from Newmont Mining Corporation in September 2003. Based in Denver, Colorado, USA, he managed worldwide exploration from 2002. Prior to this appointment, Bruce was Group Executive and Managing Director of Exploration of the Normandy Group from 1989 to 2002. He was responsible for managing its global exploration program in which he was involved in major greenfield and near mine discoveries in Australia and abroad. These discoveries aided Normandy’s transformation from a small mining company to the largest gold producer in Australia. Normandy was taken over by Newmont in 2002. Prior to his involvement in Normandy, he worked for Western Mining Corporation for 16 years in numerous roles, including Regional Exploration Manager for North America.

Mr Kay has held directorships in Normandy’s publicly listed companies including Normandy Mt Leyshon and was Chairman of both Normandy NFRM Limited and Otter Gold Mines Limited. He is currently non-executive Chairman of Heemskirk Consolidated and a Director of Tri Origins Minerals Limited. He is a qualified geologist and is a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines with a Masters Degree in Geological Science. He holds degrees in economics and science from the University of Queensland.

Donald-Walker
Donald Walker – Non-executive Director
Don Walker has been associated with the North Queensland base metals industry for more than 40 years. He has been a director of NQM since his appointment on 14 July 2005.

Mr Walker acquired the assets of Great Northern Tin Co Limited based at Herberton, North Queensland in 1958. Great Northern Tin Co Limited was a major tin producer since its established in 1881. He has held senior executive corporate position in this industry including many years as an executive director of Great Northern Mining Corporation.

Mr Walker was appointed by the Commonwealth Government as an adviser to the International Tin Council, London in 1975 as a representative of the Australian Tin Industry. He served as the Chairman of the Northern Queensland Mining Association for more than 10 years. He has served as a Councillor of the Shire of Herberton for more than 21 years, and is the recipient of a civic service award from the Governor of Queensland in recognition of his contribution to the mining industry and local government in North Queensland.

Michael Tilley
Michael Tilley BA FCA – Non-executive Director
Heading Terrain from Melbourne, Michael Tilley has an extensive background in corporate advice having worked in the accounting and finance industries for more than 25 years. He has been a director of NQM since his appointment on 14 July 2005.

Mr Tilley worked for Arthur Andersen for 15 years before moving to the Victorian Football League to become the Finance Director. He later founded D&D Tolhurst Stockbrokers.

Mr Tilley has a broad range of advisory and project management experience in all facets of corporate finance and has primary responsibility for the management of Terrain’s business and progress of its transactions. He is also Chairman of Lower Murray Water Authority and Vision Super Pty Ltd.

John McKinstry
John McKinstry BE(Min), MAusIMM, MAICD – Chief Executive
John McKinstry joined NQM in March 2006. He is a mining engineer with over 20 years’ experience in operation with International mining companies, specialising in small mines. He spent 8 years in general management roles at various mines both in Australia and overseas, and spent the last 2 years as managing director of his own business.

He commenced work at the Agnew Nickel Mine, and spent 3 years at Leinster before transferring to Mount Isa with MIM. After 6 years in various roles at Mount Isa, John left to join Normandy Mining as manager of mining at the Golden Grove operation. Following time with the La Source JV in Paris, he returned to Australia to complete a feasibility study on the Pajingo JV at Charters Towers, and went on to manager the operation for the next 5 years. During the last year he also managed the Mt Leyshon mine.

After completing a one year assignment at the Waihi operation in New Zealand Mr McKinstry transferred to the Midas Mine in the US. Following Normandy’s merger with Newmont, he remained in the US with the Nevada operations until late 2003 when he purchased a manufacturing business in Brisbane.

Mr McKinstry has completed a Graduate Certificate in Business Management and is a Member of the Institute of Company Directors.

Dr Ian Macleod-Carey – BSc (Mining), MSc, PhD, FAusIMM - Alternate Non-executive Director
Ian MacLeod-Carey is a mining engineer with extensive experience over a 43 year career in a variety of senior roles. Prior to establishing his own consultancy in 1993 he held senior operating positions within MIM, Cyprus Gold and Murchison United. As a consultant Dr MacLeod-Carey has completed a variety of assignments across Australia and PNG. His extensive experience in the North Queensland mining sector adds considerably to his worth as a director. Dr MacLeod–Carey is the appointed alternate director for Mr Don Walker
